CORK

Infinium Cork flooring can be installed over most existing floor coverings (except for carpet) in any room of your home except in very damp or wet areas (eg. Bathrooms).

Please refer to the installation instructions found in every box of product or download instructions found on each flooring product page.

Please send us a message on the contact us page or call us at: 1-800-387-8953 and we’ll be happy to direct you to your nearest Infinium dealer.

Flooring must be allowed to acclimate to the temperature of the room in which it will be installed. The unopened packages should be placed in the room for a minimum of 48 hours prior to installation at a room temperature of 19°C to 22°C and a relative humidity of 50%.

An expansion gap of 1/2’’ – 9/16’’ (12-15mm) must be left around the perimeter of the room and around all heating pipes and other obstructions. A baseboard and quarter round molding will cover this gap. In large surface areas (over 875 square ft. (82 m2), the cork flooring must be separated by an expansion gap that will be covered by a T profile. This allows the floor to expand and contract with changes in temperature and relative humidity. NEVER glue or nail your cork flooring to your subfloor.

Infinium Cork flooring is scratch resistant. However, as wood is a natural product it is not completely scratch proof. To help minimize damage to your floor, proper floor maintenance such as using felt pads, sweeping your floor regularly etc. will help prolong the life and beauty of your floors. 90% of minor indentations from furniture will disappear within 24 hours.

An occasional DAMP mopping with a neutral floor cleaner, such as Everwood Cleaner is generally all that is required to maintain your Cork flooring. Do not use soaps or detergents they may leave a film on the floor. Infinium Cork flooring should never be waxed. Wipe up spills immediately. For more detailed information, please see our FloorCare section.

Infinium cork flooring comes with a 25-year structural warranty. Adequate care and attention of your cork floor will have a significant effect on its life span.

The use of an underlay is not necessary unless your sub-floor is a cement slab, in that case you should apply a vapour barrier of 6 to 8 mils. The seams should overlap by at least 8’’/20cm and be sealed with tape.

Infinium Cork flooring can be installed over most existing floor coverings (except for carpet) in any room of your home except in very damp or wet areas (eg. Bathrooms).

The cellular nature of cork flooring allows warmth to be absorbed, making it a very warm flooring to walk on, even in winter months. Cork flooring naturally absorbs sound.

Cork flooring is one of the most renewable sources for flooring there is. Harvesting the cork oak for its bark is strictly regulated and limited to harvesting in nine-year cycles. When harvested, the cork oak remains unaffected by the process. The bark of the cork oak grows back leaving the cork oak healthy.

ENGINEERED HARDWOOD

Engineered wood is composed of a thin natural hardwood layer that has been applied to a plywood core. While solid wood naturally expands and contracts depending on the temperature and humidity levels, the multi-layered construction of engineered wood flooring ensures superior dimensional stability. Engineered wood flooring is unique in that it can be installed floating over concrete slabs using the traditional gluing with tongue and groove or “clic” methods. Combined with a sound-attenuating underlayment, engineered hardwood flooring is the ideal product for condominium environments in high-rise buildings.

An occasional DAMP mopping with a neutral floor cleaner is generally all that is required to maintain your hardwood floors. Do not use soaps or detergents as they may leave a film on the floor. Infinium hardwood flooring should never be waxed. Always remember, water and wood flooring don’t mix! Minimize water exposure to your hardwood flooring. Wipe up spills as soon as possible. Wood flooring is a natural product, which expands and contracts as moisture levels change. For more detailed information, please see the Floor Care section of our website.

High quality wood fillers are commonly available and are recommended to repair chips or gauges in your floor.

Flooring must be allowed to acclimate to the temperature of the room in which it will be installed. The unopened packages should be placed in the room for a minimum of 72 hours prior to installation at a room temperature of 19°C to 22°C and a relative humidity of 50%.

Hardwood flooring is scratch resistant. However, no flooring is completely scratch proof. To help minimize damage to your floor, proper floor maintenance such as using felt pads, sweeping your floor regularly etc. will help prolong the life and beauty of your floors. Yes, as long as relative humidity in your basement is controlled and you install the appropriate underlayment .

Yes you can install heavy objects on laminate flooring. Please ensure to follow all recommended installation procedures.

Yes, as long as your subfloor is insulated according to your local building code and that a minimum expansion gap of ½’’ (12mm) is respected near all walls and around heating pipes and thresholds. Even though our floors are designed to be glueless, applications such as this require that all planks be glued together at the seams and a vapour barrier installed under the floor.

UNDERLAYMENT

1. Be sure the sub-floor surface is clean and dry.*
2. Roll QuietWalk Floating Floor Pad over the subfloor with the vapour barrier film facing up to allow the floating wood to slide easily over the surface.
3. The perimeter edges of QuietWalk TM need to be ½ in to ¾ in (13-20 mm) away from the wall.
4. Padding materials need to be butted together flush at the seams.Peel the protective backing off of the tape strip from one section and press the overlap of vapour barrier from the next section onto the strip for an instant seal.
*In geographic areas where concrete slabs are subject to excessive moisture, a calcium chloride moisture test is recommended. Vapour emission readings in excess of 3 lbs. per 1,000 ft2 (1,46 kg per 100 m2) in 24 hours will require additional protection such as a concrete sealant or polyethylene sheeting.
NOTE: All rolls of QuietWalk TM are cut to a minimum of 100 ft2 (9,3 m2). The average thickness of QuietWalk TM is 0.125’’ (3 mm). The average weight of a roll of 100 ft2 is 13.8 lbs. (6,2 kg.). Due to the nature of our manufacturing process and the use of recycled materials, the pad thickness may vary +/- 0.02’’ (0,5 mm).
Actual weight of each roll may also vary +/- 2 lbs. (0,9 kg.). While it may appear that one roll is slightly larger than another, we guarantee this variance DOES NOT affect the coverage area nor the sound absorption benefits of the product. Please refer to the installation instructions found in every box of product or download instructions found on the underlayment page.
